Watch out, Medford: Curt Ankerberg is back

          "Dumbass slovenly pig."

"You folks are fucking sick in the mind. You too, Peter! You're a sick motherfucker."

"First of all, I did not have a mental incapacity."

"idiot reporter at KOBI5 . . . . news article was nothing but a hit piece. KOBI5 is run by yellow journalists."

"Now sit down and shut-up, and let some competent adults like me run the show for a change."

"[My opponent] is a lying piece of crap."

Sample of Comments by Curt Ankerberg

He earned a nickname: Mr. "Anger-Berger."

This time he is running for Medford School Board.

He could win election. Voters will have heard of him, but forget just exactly why his name is familiar.

So let this blog be a reminder. He is the one to avoid.

Curt Ankerberg has the notoriety one gets from being repeatedly on the ballot. He keeps running for local office and losing. His behavior has been so angry, vulgar, and weird that he  makes front page news. Stories about him go viral on social media. "Wow! Look at what Ankerberg did this time!"

Ankerberg writes angry, vulgar, vicious comments on social media. He had serious problems with the CPA Board which he now blames on his being sick and blind for a four year period. He blames IRS retaliation for his failed audits, and the discipline they meted out.

He denounces as corrupt nearly everyone: Republicans, Democrats, the local newspaper, businesses, the Chamber of Commerce. Republicans, he says, are corrupt crony capitalists. Democrats, he says, are commies. He names names.

He gained a reputation as a caller on the Bill Meyer talk radio program, and he signs his name to some of the comments he posts here on this blog and on Facebook. They aren't useful, because they are so relentlessly hostile. Everyone is corrupt or stupid but him, and he is brilliant.

Voters who rely primarily on the Voters Pamphlet will see an incomplete picture of Ankerberg. Ankerberg is profoundly angry and weird, but he is not stupid, and he can present himself with moments of apparent sound judgement and rationality, a citizen with legitimate concerns.

That is the person one sees in the Voters Pamphlet. The person behind that facade would be a deeply disruptive presence on the School Board, just as he would have been on the other offices he has sought. So far, voters have known to avoid him, but social media has made him more famous and School Board elections are typically low-turnout and voters rely on that Voters Pamphlet.

Voters have two alternatives to Ankerberg. One of them is the incumbent, Lilia Caballero. She is the Cultural Outreach Coordinator for the City of Medford's police department. There--and on the School Board--she plays the important role of providing two-way communication to the Latino community.

She is well respected. She knows how to get along with others.

Caballero is not as well known as Ankerberg. She is quietly doing her job. But voters would be best served by concentrating their votes on her as the electable alternative to Ankerberg.

Every race “Angerburger” (a well deserved nick name) has been in lately he has been close to winning. It’s important to remember to vote wisely this election.

His ability to speak his mind is appealing to some. Injecting the polarizing partisan politics that is common in statewide or national elections in to local nonpartisan races is one of his trademarks. It’s inappropriate, particularly in a school board race. He must be rejected.

Social media is filled reports of his many victims - anyone who says anything he finds objectionable is hit with a barrage of profane insults. He resorts to cyber stalking. Private messages. Messages to family members. Threats to employers. Often his attacks are directed at women with misogynistic language laced with the typical profane names.

His aversion to reality is well documented. His superiority complex is something that should be a case study for psychiatry students. He has zero capacity to work well with differing opinions and immediately launches in to an explosive rage.

Someone like this does not belong anywhere near a policy making role for our children.

Example of an exchange on this blog a few days ago. Note - Ankerberg goes for irrational rage insults insults. Can you imagine a school board meeting being conducted with this lack of decorum? It’s not unreasonable to assume that level of rage presents a safety hazard.

Keep spreading this lie around, Curt. Should go well at your next compliance hearing.

I’ll make sure the BOA gets a screenshot of this.

Michael James...you're another dumbass liberal with a big mouth. Why would I have the need for another compliance hearing with the BOA? I'm retired. I'm not under their jurisdiction anymore.
You have a much better chance of being indicted by the grand jury for sex crimes against children.

Who's angry? I'm not angry. I'm happy as a clam. :>) Happy, happy, happy!!! If you were honest, then you'd acknowledge that I responded to Ms. Spicer after she insulted me first, as I had never even met or spoken to the woman prior to her attack on me. Ms. Spicer was the aggressor. All my comments were made in response to insults from the other side. Who the hell is this "Anonymous" clown? You act as if everything happens in a vacuum. It doesn't. You insult me all the time. I must be a threat to democrats. Look at your article I'm responding to. You resort to lies and name-calling. I'll bet that you wouldn't say this stuff to my face. I only respond after being attacked. I have extensive management experience. My opponent has none. She's unqualified. She's proven it, and she's not respected by conservatives (neither is Ms. Starchvick). She's been on the school board for 4 years, and the school district has had failing test scores for every year she was on the school board. Pete, you're a deceptive liar and manipulator. Pete....tell your readers that your wife Debby Lee gave my opponent $1,000 when she ran for the school board 4 years ago, and that you had a political reception for her at your house. The school board is suppose to be non-partisan, but you've made it partisan. You're a democrat party hack. It's clear that you don't care about the kids. They're failing, and you don't say a word about it. For you, it's about the democrats maintaining power, even when they do a lousy job, which is most of the time. You keep quoting the civil fine I got, yet you omit a lot of information related to it. For fairness, why doesn't the Mail Tribune do a background strip-search on every candidate like they did on me? Let's do a background search on you and Debby. We might learn that most of the democrats have warts. I'll bet that you have warts. You should take a good hard look at yourself before you criticize me.

Love and kisses.....

The first Anonymous poster above is a coward named Sunny Spicer, who, besides being a pathological liar, also suffers from mental illness. You need counseling, Lady. You're sick.

Say what you will about Curt, at least he doesn't pretend to be what he isn't.
Mr. Horner, on the other hand, pretends to care about the school board and public education, yet undermines board decisions whenever he holds the short straw. He consistently demonstrates willful ignorance about how consensus works in a governing body. Further, it is one thing to disagree on policy, but shockingly bad behavior to try to divert attention from finger-flipping-rape-and-pillage man by purposely misrepresenting the actions of a fellow board member as he did by repeating his assertion that Starchvick broke the Public Meetings law. AND he did so knowing she not only obeyed the law but that she enforced it. How did he know? Because when he tattled to the press a year ago, the Tribune carefully laid out the law for him. Ahhh, but Jim isn't one to let facts get in the way of accusations and action: Ready, fire, aim! Talk about a reveal of character. Starchvick is a proven leader; Horner, a proven muckraker.
Glen Gann will at least serve as a member without an ax to grind and bring real-life experience that matters to the Horner-held seat.

If Curt wins, I want to be at the first board meeting when he refers to the kids as “those little fuckers”.

Those quotes above are just regular examples of Kurt showing himself off as the true Christian he claims to be....whatever that means.

The insult Curt is referring to is a Facebook comment I made in July of 2018 in reference to his last School Board run. I wrote:

“I sincerely hope someone runs against Curt “Anger Burger”.

That launched a series of private messages and Facebook posts filled with hateful messages, vicious name calling, and a threat to the children’s nonprofit organization I run.

When I made the messages public, he increased his attacks, resorting to calling “mentally ill”, a liar, a whore . . . The list goes on and on. It’s lasted for months. Clearly it’s not over.

His accusations and threats against me have caused my family, friends and employees extreme distress. For whatever reason, he continues to come up with outlandish attacks against my character. Because I said I hoped someone would run against him based on his own interactions with others, that he prolifically posts for the world to see. His words. Not anyone else’s.

My career has been spent working to support children and education. My track record speaks for itself. Mr Ankerberg can’t tear that down. I will continue to focus on the positive work being done in this community. Mr Ankerberg is not a part of that.

Sincerely,
The mentally ill dumbass slovenly pig

Yes, the "what about?" defense is intriguing. Sure, overt attacks get a lot of attention but it's just as insidious to gloss over questionable issues by claiming that somehow another's actions are worse. Just because it's not hyperbolic and dramatic doesn't mean it's inconsequential.

Anyway, in this case I really don't see how it relates...

Of course this tactic is inspired from afar, with the use given a proprietariness it does not deserve from the White House and Fox. At best it claims an equivalence that may or may not be valid, but at worst it's an effort distract and mislead those who are making a judgement. It's actually kind of silly on the face of it. No responsible court of law would accept "What about?" as a defense, indeed, it smacks of a grade schooler complaining to a parent about a sibling's behavior.

A person's politics don't necessarily define their character, but I believe that inherent Progressive values hold morals and ethics as paramount. When an otherwise Progressive politician falls I cringe because we should, and do, hold them to a higher standard. They fall farther and harder, and give Regressives ammunition for a "what about" attack.

What about that, Peter?

The simple fact is that the Oregon Board of Accountancy - the group who decides who is allowed to refer to themselves as CPA’s in the State of Oregon - has barred Curt Ankerberg from referring to himself as a CPA - even with the qualifier of retired.

He was also fined $7,000 (suspended) for filing fraudulent returns. This is all verifiable on the BOA website.

It was a violation of his settlement agreement with the BOA to refer to himself as a CPA in his filing paperwork. Might that be election fraud? Let’s let the SOS make that determination.

Have you decided to reach out to school board candidate Ruth Moncus to see her positions/ views? She is a Latina businesswoman with new ideas to bring to the board. The other day on the Bill Meyer Show, Curt was on the show and poised the argument that the school board race was only a race including Lilia and himself. Bill did not decide to correct him. I think it is fair for every commentator or personality to at least inform the voters of all of their options. The greatest problem we face as a country is being misinformed. I don't see any of Lilia's signs or Curt's signs as I drive through the valley. I hear a lot of people talking about Ruth. She might just surprise everyone. But I am definitely NOT voting for Curt that is for sure!
