FOX NEWS' AINSLEY EARHARDT: We have radicals on the right as well. . . . How do we fix this country?
TRUMP: I'll tell you something that's gonna get me in trouble -- but I couldn't care less.
By now readers have heard the news. Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk, wasn't a "radical leftist" after all.
Robinson is a clean-cut, White, native-born, Utah Republican Mormon, from a pro-Trump, pro-gun household with a father formerly in law enforcement and now a Christian pastor. Robinson was in an apprenticeship program to be an electrician. [Update: his father was apparently not a pastor; he installs cabinets.]
Robinson is not a liberal. Not a progressive. Not trans. Not studying ethnic or gender justice at some liberal sanctuary. He wasn't sending coded trans messages. He wasn't in a gang. He wasn't from Harvard, thank God.
He is one of theirs.
For two days Americans heard Trump, Republican politicians, and MAGA citizenry complain that Democrats killed Charlie Kirk and that they will get revenge. Social media was full of threats and warnings. I received letters. One, from a MAGA lawyer who should know better, but doesn't, wrote me saying that Democrats "brought assassination," and Democrats will rue the day they aren't nice and civil and tolerant like Trump. He wasn't being droll. He was serious. I received multiple veiled death threats from a local Trump-supporter, which I have turned over to the police. The police won't think they are funny.
On Thursday, the day after the assassination with the shooter still unknown, I posted here likening Trump's instant blame of "leftists" to Adolph Hitler's response to the Reichstag fire of 1933. The actual cause of that fire was uncertain at the time, and remains so, but that didn't matter to Hitler. He blamed the fire on an opposition party, which became justification to use war powers to suppress them. I warned that Trump was doing the same thing, scapegoating his political opposition. That is still happening.
This could be an opportunity for Trump, Fox, and other Democrat accusers to reverse course and de-escalate. Even Ainsley Earhardt tried to do it. Trump is forging ahead blaming Democrats. Fox News now asserts an improbable theory that college corrupted the shooter. Blame Utah State, that hotbed of woke progressivism.
I personally feel a sense of relief. Whew. The assassin was an all-American classic.
Robinson -- and apparently the two people who attempted to assassinate Trump and the man who invaded the Pelosi home -- were pro-Trump. But there are crazy, disturbed people on the left, too. It could have been a Democrat this time. Assassins, school shooters, and impulsive murderers of strangers are one-offs. Loners. People with confused politics.
I don't blame Whites, or Christians, or Mormons, or Trump families, or gun owners, or Dixie Technical School apprentice electricians for killing Charlie Kirk. Tyler apparently consumed right wing conspiracy nuttery, and chose to pick up and use a gun that was right there in the house. We tolerate that nuttery and we tolerate gun culture. Freedom. But I only blame one person: Tyler Robinson.

Social media get an assist in the blame?
What Robinson left behind intended for discovery at the very murder scene was a bullet casing engraved with “Hey fascist! Catch!” and another with the lyrics of an anti-fascist anthem. Robinson’s own conservative people said he had recently become much more “political”, and had decried Kirk himself as a dispenser of “hate”, just as did those on the left who cheered or at least rationalized Kirk’s assassination. If anything, all this bespeaks an Antifa orientation. Much more information will be forthcoming.
Casting Robinson today as if coming from Kirk’s right is avoidant, arguably even desperate.
Note: A reader attempted to comment, quoting an article in Breitbart, which quotes an article from The Guardian, which quoted an anonymous acquaintance of Tyler Robinson saying that Robinson had become leftist. In fact, that informant has recanted his statement, saying he didn't really remember anytjhing. The Guardian filed a correction. What has not happened is that Breitbart has not updated or corrected their story. This is, alas, typical of what is happening here. Trump true-believers have an idea in mind and they insist on pushing it, regardless of the facts. The shooter simply MUST have been a Democrat or a radical leftist. Believe alternate facts. I could understand this behavior if the comment-writers were dim-witted or profoundly uneducated. But, sadly, the problem isn't low intelligence, It is that they are captured by their prior beliefs. Trump MUST be right, facts be damned. True believers are impervious. I don't think they are actively lying. I don't think they feel gjuilty. They feel misunderstood. How come people don't believe their facts, even when they are known to be false? It isn't evidence of their stupidity. It is evidence of their profound belief in their leader. It is idolatry.
Mossad: CK was anti-Israel.
Note: "CK" in the above comment means Charlie Kirk.
Tyler's father installs kitchen counters and cabinets and is not a pastor. You've gotten details wrong, Peter. As many people have at this confused stage working from partial info.
I don't think anyone knows the politics of the shooter at this point. The engravings on the shells seem to be from a video game, not a political group. Maybe the sick puppy just wanted to kill a real person like he did in his game, to test if he's really a good shot, to see real blood.
He's yours! No, he's yours! might be a fun game played by Twitter bots, but it will not determine the meaning of Charlie Kirk's death.
I've seen comments from people who said they knew nothing of Charlie before he died, but checking him out he seems to be a genuinely happy, sociable, likable man who was genuine in his faith. Maybe they'll go to church tomorrow because he's inspired them.
I've also seen comments from die hard Lefties that they can't believe how many of their centrist friends have revealed themselves to be in agreement with Charlie Kirk; really devastated to see how popular his ideas are.
What we do know is that Charlie Kirk was opposed to any attempt at curbing America's murderous gun culture. Apparently so was Tyler Richardson.
Tyler apparently consumed right wing conspiracy nuttery, and chose to pick up and use a gun that was right there in the house.
I don’t understand how you can say that there was some right wing conspiracy idea that would have led someone to kill Charlie Kirk, who was a leading figure on the right.
Pepe groypers alt right stuff
Youbetcha. Unhappy folks to the RIGHT of Kirk would have characterized Kirk as "full of hate and spreading hate", as Robinson did. Youbetcha.
Sounds like something an antifa and/or trans-identifying leftist would say. Let's see if new reports on Robinson's roommate turn out to be accurate.
Shortly before Kirk was shot, Trump's primary white-wing whacko influencer, Laura Looney-Tunes Loomer, was ragging on him for demanding release of the Epstein files.
If I was going to engrave my message onto bullet casings to be used in an assassination (never going to happen), I'd make sure my message was clear.Tyler didn't roll that way. All over the web are people ascribing the messages to one side or another.
When I read the used casing said "Notices Bulge, OwO What's This?" I immediately thought of Dylan Mulvaney, the TikTok celeb invited to the Biden White House to celebrate his 365 Days of Girlhood (puke). Cause being a girl is all about make-up and shopping and acting like a dippy bimbo, according to Mulvaney and VP Harris.
One of Mulvaney's schtick's was 'normalize the bulge,' to make it normal for a male with a cock bulge showing through his dress to prance into WOMEN's spaces. Gender diversity, don't you know.
The 'OwO what's this?' part of Tyler's message is a stunned face, wondering WTF? seeing an obvious male body, in surprising clothing and in a space where it is unexpected.
It’s good to see we’re all keeping up with the bullshit being slung around the internet. Since the shooter is being charged by the state rather than the feds, there’s a chance we might eventually get some facts – although if Trump doesn’t like them the feds will probably take over. For now, about all we know is that he’s a nut case, as are all the politicians who refuse to do anything about America’s epidemic of gun violence besides offering “thoughts and prayers.” of course, in Kirk’s case the flag has also been lowered. That’ll help.
If we want gun control, work for social cohesion.
If we like our fellow Americans enough to want them to have good jobs at good wages and live in a decent house and send their kids to excellent schools, we'll like them enough to want to prevent them getting shot at Wal-Mart.
As your friendly reporter of internet bullshit, there is an effort that might help the cause of social cohesion and civility repair: let's go to church this Sunday. Do it for Charlie.
This tweet got over 145000 likes:
Alright Christians, help an ex-atheist and former Democrat out:
Can I just walk into a church and sit down? What about mass on Sunday? Is there anything I need to do in advance? I don’t want to start a denominational argument but where do I go?
My family needs to go to church.
Over 40,000 people replied to give him instructions on how to go to church.
There's an historic church I've been thinking of going to near me, even though I'm not Catholic. I believe I'm going to do it.
And yes, you can just go in and sit down in church.
Marc Caputo, formerly of Politico, now for Axios, headlined this afternoon:
“Kirk suspect’s transgender roommate ‘aghast’, may be key to motive”.
From the story:
“Each of the six sources familiar with the investigation told Axios that investigators believe Robinson had a romantic relationship with his roommate……..Axios’ sources said investigators initially wanted the information about the roommate’s gender identity kept quiet because that person is being ‘extremely cooperative’ with authorities”.
Robinson came from—and apparently rebelled against—a thorough MAGA home, but the wishful left-wing covering narrative is now collapsing in spectacular fashion. The causational poison of certain angry progressive identitarian political ideologies is on full display…again. “Trantifa”, as it’s known to many,. “Victims” unto death-dealing, it seems….
This sort of desperate deflection is hilarious. The meaning of what young Tyler wrote on the shell casings aren't subtle or mysterious. They are literally **ALL** groyper jokes/expressions/lingo. And not particularly subtle ones either.
It has nothing to do with trans, or antifa or any other bullshit excuse you want to make up to keep burying your head in the sand and try to pretend that this person was left wing.
The "groyper army" and their leader Nick Fuentes are self-proclaimed neo-Nazis who have been in an angry feud with Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA that has been well known since 2019. The reason for the feud? They don't think Charlie is MAGA enough. The initial reason was that Fuentes and company were furious at Charlie Kirk for his willingness to "debate" LGBT at his college campus events, when in the minds of the groypers LGBT people were clearly only worthy of being put to death, certainly not debated.
A more recent flair up occurred earlier this summer when Charlie had the insolence to briefly demand (before quickly walking it back) that your Dear Leader release the Epstein files. Nick Fuentes and the groypers, along with several other extreme right wing figures such as Laura Loomer considered Kirk suggesting that Trump release the Epstein files to be a major betrayal and a stab in the back, and openly said as much on formerly Twitter and other platforms.
These are the people who Tyler Robinson followed, and again the writings on his bullets were literal word for word quotes of sayings that clearly aren't well known groyper-isms. The guy literally dressed as Pepe the frog for Halloween one year, and Pepe is the mascot the groypers use.
To continue to try to deflect and obfuscate and pretend that Tyler Robinson was left wing in some way is laughably ignorant. Which is unfortunately typical of the MAGA movement these days.
Request of Woke Guy. I know next to nothing about this groyper-Pepe world. Please email me to discuss a guest post on this subject and why you think there is a groyper message in the bullet engravings. Peter.w.sage at gmail.com
